In the spirit of celebrating today’s excellent youth, Sandpiper Records releases its first song, Sweet Joy Fills My Heart. Featuring vocals by 13 year old Sarah Wheeler, poetic lyrics by her mother Elizabeth, and rhythm guitar by 14 year old Samuel Lock, this production will warm the heart. In all things music, composers Julianna Waller & Carlos R Martinez passionately value providing opportunities for the education and enrichment of young musicians.
lyrics
Breaking night’s sky, I see hope shining in the sunrise
Morning’s light is here, drying tears – my soul comes alive
All alone I wait, for the day that we’ll meet,
where o where are you under night’s stars?
Morning brings me light – it’s sweet joy, and it’s filling my heart.
Breaking winter’s storm, I see hope bloom in colors of spring
Roses burst forth, and earth’s painted with the love you will bring
All alone I walk, under bluebirds’ sweet call,
My thoughts turn to paths meant for two.
Then spring’s song of life – it’s sweet joy, and it’s filling my heart.
Walking by your side, new light shines at night under moon
Deep red flowers fade, but our hands join in snow walks for two
You were always there, every sunrise, I knew,
Spring’s life sang dreams do come true
Now your song brings love – it’s sweet joy, and it’s filled up my heart.

It’s a lot to live up to, but to that already high bar I’ll add Ben Folds and Randy Newman, if only for Kahane’s similar sense of musical theatre, playful storytelling and ability to set … Continue reading Album of the Week: Where are the Arms → Bandcamp Album of the Day Dec 19, 2011
