about

"To change the world, my friend Sancho, that is not madness, or utopia, rather justice." -Don Quixote.

Sandpiper Records presents The Don Quixote Suite for Violin and Orchestra inspired by Miguel de Cervantes' literary masterpiece. It is adventurous, lyrical, and victorious. A musical portrait of the famous character who read so many books about chivalry that he lost his "wit". He desired to become a knight-errant. He roamed the world over with full armor on riding his beloved horse Rosinante. His faithful companion Sancho Panza was by his side.

The first movement "The Adventure Begins" is beautiful, joyful, full of optimism. It is the start of a journey. The second movement, "Monologue" is solemn. A recitative of sorts resembling the thoughts of a man lost within himself. The third movement "Rosinante-Pegasus" is a fanfare. Don Quixote is riding his beloved horse to battle a giant, which in reality is a windmill.
